25th Testimony to Everafter
By Steven Minchin

I bought the fluff

when I saw you’d gone giddy
I reset my voice to raw
so it was more poignant more pious
when I met your black cooing
succumb like an apostle
bowed and wrapped myself in fluff
to get on with giddy

empty

broken we really connected
we pounded dark lectures
like they were Goldschlagers
fused night to boys to blurs
we succumb like old preachers
hushed by Everafter’s
lipservice choir moaning

I bought the fluff
