It's just poetry, it won't bite

a divination

Loria Taylor’s poem Surely appeared here in October 2009. This poem has the feeling of a cup reading; it is vague and meaningful all at the same time.

a divination
By Loria Taylor

a divination of the signs
a Thursday night

road unsafe under water
road unsafe regardless

slower traffic right lane
fast forward left lane
I drive on the shoulder

mile marker 103
three men, one love
construction ahead
fines double when workers are present
fines double when hope is present

there are places on Arkansas roadways
that if you had a flat tire
you’d never know for all the potholes
it feels the same, the road and the trouble
the road and the mechanism

never has the future been so transparent
