A Lie I tell myself
By Penny Wilson
You hold my heart
Not in the palm of your hand
but on a razor’s edge
the tip your tongue
a sword
You can cut my heart
with a phrase
Or a word
Tear that fragile organ
from my chest
Leave it raw and bleeding
Each blood drop
a bargain
A lie I tell myself
