Afterglow
By Ana Paula Amaral

No afterglows rest awake in the blue
Not anymore, not since the rain
The golden hail echoed in the sewer
And travelled the city

I feel the cold breeze of night
The dawn of a nigh, known darkness
It put a spell on me, I’ve known
Since my legs froze, dreamless

Dreamless, for the first time
After the afterglow

O, I hail you too
The forever dancer, up on the clouds
Bold, as if their grey was light
And lighter than my steps

But you do enjoy the storm
And there, our hearts meet.
What mesmerizing eyes
Are my own, when complete

Resting on puddles at every corner now.
