Being
By Marya Zilberberg

Yesterday in the sky

I saw whales,
Fusiform bodies lined up in parallel,
A crack of sunlight in between,
Looking south,
Their cetacean song
Bouncing in my gut,
Reverberating like the ping of a
Pinball machine,
Until the grass became plankton
Straining through my baleen.

Marya, today I looked in the sky and saw the same whales. And their song resonates. Thank you for writing this exquisite poem. Sharon
