The Conclusions of an Older Brother
By Charles Clifford Brooks III

There is talk of deep roots,
water,
born from,
being married into,
family.

I only see:
Loyalty,
compassion,
revenge,
a particular strain of DNA.

It is more than plasma,
money,
sir names,
holidays,
traditions that act
as a conduit
between strangers.

little brother,
it is us. You.
Me.
We carry
the true unique
within us.

  1. A beautiful testimony to the power of brothers–blood and chosen.
