With You I Celebrate
By Jeanette Cheezum

A happy heart develops a garden
of romance. With sprinkles of
understanding and love.

One sweet night we established
the creation of unity in a life of
unrest and hardship.

Reached for the brass ring, engaged
it and held on tight … if you find
the right relationship, you nurture it
with all your might.

Many years of caring have shown
me the best decision was made
with you by my side.

You’ll dress tonight in your
finest suit and tie. I’ll wear
a silky gown and take your arm.

For you are the diamond in our
thirty-third anniversary.

Jeanette Cheezum’s most recent poem to appear here was At Last, published as part of Contributor Series 9: If Men Had Ears in July 2011.
