Boudoir Age

By Betty Ruth Speir

One is keenly aware of their chronological age
In fact, as years pass, our awareness becomes more ominous
Perhaps we should shift our emphasis to another inherent age
Boudoir age is another great barometer
I am better in bed than I was decades ago
Regret that I go to bed alone night after night!
Perhaps when an age inquiry is made I’ll reply:
Boudoir or chronological?

Betty Ruth Speir’s most recent poem to appear here was My Quiver (April 2012).

  2. Jean, I am delighted that you like my “Boudoir Age”-’tis a bit bawdy and I hesitated to submit it. Thank you.
