Sisterhood of the Butterfly
By Jeanette Cheezum
By Jeanette Cheezum
I release a balloon and a butterfly
to find my sisters wherever they are.
To bring them strength, love, and
maturity in times of happiness
and sorrow. I cherish you sisters
go fly and be free.
Jeanette Cheezum’s poetry appeared at vox poetica in 2009 and 2010. Her most recent poem, For Valentine’s Day, appeared in February 2010.
Truly lovely. The image and the feeling are distilled perfectly.
This small poem is a beautiful union of imagery and metaphor. Very well done.
Lovely, Jeanette.
Ladies, thank you so much for reading and the nice comments on my poem.
I am touched and delighted to call you sister,Jeanette. Interesting that the closeness of belonging gives permission to fly…great poem!
