Contributor Series 7: The Confessional Diary of Bone
Wishbone
By Tim VanSant

when we were kids
we would hold a wishbone
in the crook
of our pinky fingers
and make a wish
close our eyes and pull
hoping for the bigger half

now I never break bones
and never make a wish
if having it come true
means that your wish
cannot

Tim’s most recent poem to appear at vox poetica was Words on a Wire, published in February as part of Contributor Series 4: Aspects of the Elephant.
