Dancing to Aerosmith in My Underwear
By Nicole Yurcaba

I’ve heard this song throughout
my 31 years. This band, too. Neither
are favorites. I don’t even like Aero-
smith, and, yet, this Sunday morning
as my fiancé pounds pork tenderloin
for Sunday dinner, I sip Keurig-brewed
coffee; my hips are sassy against Steven
Tyler’s whine, the too-happy guitar’s drool,
the not-so-Keith-Moon drumming. My
feet step in and out of invisible boxes,
our needs-replaced-but-we-don’t-have-
the-money linoleum floor scraping
rough on my unsocked soles.
