Dissonance
By Megha Sood

The soulful music of the artist
lost against the white noise of the subway roll
the laughter amongst the trees
lost between the gale and the thundering rain
the buzzing of the hummingbird
overshadowed by the trucks going down the road
the gentle motions of the drop
sliding between the veins of the leaves
that surreptitious movement
is lost to the roving eye
the giggling laughs of a baby
a color of the sprouting bud
getting lost in the voiceless din of this city
the soliloquy of rivers with its ripples
broken by the lashing speedboat
melody spun by the diffident swirling dervish
unheard by the ears clogged by the propaganda
You are losing your existence
bits by bits
serrated by the darkness
on either side of your existence
and you fail to align the dissonance
deep-seeded in your life.
