Escapism
By Ross Knapp

No agnosticism possible here–
Entertain your favorite drug of choice

Nursing your miniature id
Your problematic faith in Progress
Emotional discussion over coffee
Philosophical discussion over drinks
Popcorn erotic fiction
Highbrow literature and poetry
Mass-appeal prehistoric music
Avant-garde novelty and art
Drown your sorrows in alcohol
Delay your nightmares in coke
Mask your fears through movies
Forget reality in TV’s fanaticism
Waste away lonely on Facebook
Lose your life online or off

Draining factories; out of sight out of mind
Offices and restaurants: the new overlords of our time
Work avoided once again for a future zeitgeist
(Work towards what automaton? eschaton?)
Universal unfulfillment
