It's just poetry, it won't bite

Evening

Evening
By Morgan Bazilian

It goes down slowly
slower than believed
or modeled, or assumed

It goes down with a slight guitar riff
a finger picking rhythm
in standard tuning

Drunken and swaying
he dances
sailing through the night

The paleness of the girl
and the moon
at the same time

Forgetting the difference
her dress beautiful and delicate
torn at the neck her hair tumbles

The burden is now on the evening
and its possibilities

No matter where you go
some small bit of you
some small song

It is wholly unnecessary
to explain this to anyone
but ourselves

The rest of the place is (nearly) silent
