The Fallows
By Murray Dunlap

Life bleeds into darkness
While promising light
Hardship appears never-ending
In the worn paths of old ways
The fallows have no path
Nothing worn in, nothing proven
Life churns out hardship
But in the fallows lie hope
With hope, a path can be found
A way out
On God’s heel
We carve new paths
We seek out truth
We make ourselves whole
There is light in the fallows
