Fireflies
By Douglas Polk

fireflies, one of God’s gifts to summer nights,
the magic real and visible in the soft specs of tiny light,
the phenomena need not be explained,
but only experienced,
sparking memories,
and dreams through the warm dark night,
seen through childlike eyes,
rebirth in the summer darkness.
