Hidden
By Douglas Polk

sweet the smell of cedar and pine,
lonely survivors,
along rivers hidden in among the hills of sand,
secrets,
only among friends,
willing to take the time to truly know,
water bubbles from the underground,
cold and refreshing,
in this desert of sand and grass.
