My Way Home
By Laura Zucca-Scott

A blue hotel light fights against the sunset
Down the street, the arches of the old theater host
particles of nobility, echoes of music and delight
This used to be my shortcut home
along the sidewalk worn by invisible footprints

A girl is sitting on the bench
Waiting for the late bus
Or for someone who may never come
She looks down lost and distant
I share another useless smile
without regrets

I want to dance wildly in this clash of colors
and remember where I came from
But the light quickly fades
I lost my way home

  1. I loved…the sidewalk worn by invisible footprints.

  2. Dale Leffler says:

“A girl is sitting on the bench
    Waiting for the late bus
Or for someone who may never come
She looks down lost and distant”

Another much longer poem begins here.

    lovely imagery, lost my home
