Nate Spears’ poem I Believe appeared here in November 2010. His book Inspiration 2 Smile was released in December 2010 and will be released as an audio book in the spring of 2011. Hear what he has to say about his inspiration on 15 Minutes of Poetry.

I’m Gone
By Nate Spears

Warm and hydrated
As I
Twist and turn my own bottlecap
Pop
Release the air
Just excitement
Packed inside
No CO2
Refreshing it is
To quench your thirst
With achievement
I drink from success
In doubts
I’m not believing
Seeing
Past trends
Brings ends
Ended by strokes
I won’t strike out
Or collapse
From your heat
Or your smoke
Scream
Nope
As I take another drink
And move on
My soul has wings
Red bull
I’m gone.

Hi, Nate. Very interesting poem. I think I heard you read this and explain how the plastic bottles are sent compressed to the pepsi plant then inflated as they’re filled. Right?

  3. Jean says:

Nate, Love the line breaks, the way your poem looks on the page, the sounds, when read aloud. Jean
