Let Go
By Cassie Premo Steele

Your hands are bleeding from holding on so needy to what
is broken and busted open. These shards can’t hold wine or
even old letters or time. Time to let go. Part the sand with
your fingers and feel it release its grip of covering, despite
your fear hovering and threatening with the thunder of past
regret. This is for you to get. Broken glass becomes jewels
after thousands of years and you don’t have that long. Put
it down. Don’t kneel. Walk away. Sing your song. Feel the
cuts on your perfectly shaped, painful fingers begin to heal.
