Musical Passages For Theatre Interludes
By Aaron Kent
I sing the rhythm-struck gauntlet,
the wax coated blade
on the west of my pupils.
From left-field a harp struck
with all edges of solar’s
Plexus—a pair of brothers
in the diamond fields
picking coal. I turn the soil
in fresh adventure
and pasteurise tomorrow’s
memories with seeds
from the grasslands.
I wear the weather as Marianna
Trench, all the cattle shown
to the front of the line,
remove the burns
from individual stems
and count the petals left
in a state of perpetual
infinity. Bliss picks the snow
from the tread and counts
the plug sockets in service
station bathrooms. I pick
the dead mites from my
dreams and sabotage leisure
time in my mother’s
swollen axis.
