It's just poetry, it won't bite

04.01.20 Posted in today's words by

Preston Fritz Smith is a conservatory-trained musician and actor based in New York City since 2003. He most recently co-starred in season 2 of the HBO series Succession. Preston’s most creative moments come while doing late night sets of pull-ups on scaffolding projects around Chelsea or while playing Brahms on his Chickering piano.
1. Loudly heard bike bells,

Pounding sneakers and footsteps;
So few sounding cars.
2. We runners are out,
Only half dozen apart;
Not allowed to speak.
3. Plenty of sleeptime.
Food, bikes, piano practice;
It’s camp with mute friends.
4. The guards at Whole Foods
Enforcing health with yardsticks;
I bawl when yelled at.
5. Barren streets at night,
Bustling is on vacation;
But not by its choice.
6. Facetime’s a new thing,
For most New Yorkers that is;

We prefer to touch.
