Promise Land Spoils
By Steven Minchin

once we were inside
Jericho

we missed the walls
and kept

marching around
admitting

our distaste
for milk

and battling
Honey

all those thoughts
gone

and back then
again

again those thoughts
back then

when we were warriors
unified

marching around
chanting

until walls came
down

locking us in Jericho
eventually

leaving us with nothing
to become

but lovers circling
jaded

after triumph
in Canaan

and years
in formation
