Pure and Detached

Tapeshwar Amef’s poem Pure Heart was a tribute to the late Mother Teresa. Today he writes more of what might be a continuation of that tribute.

Pure and Detached
By Tapeshwar Amef

Imagination is the umbilical cord of Consciousness.
Time is the mother tree and it gives birth to unripe as well as ripe fruits.

The more the imagination soars, the more the turmoil.
And farther and farther away the answers seem to repel each other.

Time is not a ruthless, fearful, ugly demon.
It is neither caring, benevolent, and lovable, but is pure and detached.

A newborn and the person dying are both helpless.
They are not as attached to
anyone either with mind or body.

The baby, when inside the womb, is attached by the umbilical cord for sustenance.
Born! And the cord is cut.

Illusion is born out of consciousness and imagination sustains it.
Time remains as it is, maybe going forward or revolving on its axis.

As I myself am imagining,
consciousness is the gas stove,
And there are lots of recipes
to be savored.

There is no place for errors, fallacies, or criticisms in imagination.
As long as consciousness is made to live on.

Let’s invent something new,
bereft of imagination
and consciousness.
Let us go beyond all this.

Imagination is the “kept” of Consciousness.
Keep moving in the direction of time
pure and detached.
