Road Trips
By Laura Zucca-Scott

You used to call them “road trips”
Driving around with no real purpose
We were talking about everything
We were talking about nothing

I remember stopping by the seaside
Where restless seagulls played with the waves
At sunset, on the top of a hill
We looked at sun,
Warm as a mother’s touch

Now we can’t travel anymore
And I carry the sun and the sea with me on my skin
In a day stolen from a brutal routine

And we still talk
While the last summer lights
Say goodbye through your bedroom’s window

One Response to “Road Trips”

  1. A beautiful description of beach life and a summers end.
