Self Same
By L Ward Abel

…….Mapmakers give lines for when and where it doesn’t freeze.
I have to be close to that line tonight.
…….Almost where the heat never wanes breathes a coast
under half moons made for people who can’t sleep.
…….Wide and full the black water river tilts
ever so slightly down and into San Carlos Bay. Green and black make
…….something utterly transparent.
It knows there is no line. It breathes in what it is, exhales the same
…….and, after all, has never thought of anything else.

I enjoyed Mr. Abel’s logical lines that became a great poem to think about. I could feel the transparent river breathing and exhaling. The last two lines are my favorites. Thanks for sharing.
