Silver Owls

Silver Owls
By James H Duncan

silver owl earrings dangle and dance
as she speaks, each spinning on
opposite sides of such an elegant
ivory ballroom, dark velvet curtains
tied back, the reflections of the night
glimmering through window eyes,
the music in her words pouring through
lips so close, and I’d like to tell her so,
but sitting back and watching where
this dance may go, watching these two
silver owls with all the songs in the world
to dance to, it makes me wonder why
I have the urge to speak at all,
when a simple waltz of spinning silver
owls dancing along her skin are everything
I’d ever wish to say

Just beautiful. On many levels. Thank you.

    Another nice visual…
I picture the room, the drapes etc. and I hope I’m a silver owl.
Enjoyed thinking it was written by a male and checking back to learn I was right.
    A very nice reading experience-
It brought a smile to my face.

  5. Sarah says:

    Gorgeous

  6. Mildred Speidel says:

I loved Today’s Words…Red Tulip. Then someone suggested I go back and check out “silver Owls”. I think if I continued my journey backwards, I would not be disappointed in the least. Great writing. You put me into each situation. The emotions are so very real. Thanks!
