Lou Pugliese’s most recent poem to appear here was Last Christmas (March 2014).
For someone, maybe
By Lou Pugliese
When I write I never know
Just how a story ends
The subtlety, the ebb and flow
The twists and turns and bends
The words fall from a broken mind
Just random letters spilled
Like starting on a puzzle
The border needing filled
I don’t know what I have to say
This dumping from my head
Sometimes a gift, a small surprise
Until I see it said
I wonder how and why it comes
This thing that must unfold
It seems to pass right through me
This story to be told
And even stranger falls in verse
An interesting route
Sometimes blessing sometimes curse
But needing to get out
When the page at last is filled
I hope someone can find
The purpose that I often miss
When words fall from my mind
I know the feeling, expressed in “For someone maybe”! Love the ending. So often, whether in poem or otherwise, we don’t know where our words or lives are going without first saying/doing them!
