Stray
By Jeffrey Smyers

Ever should you ponder
the faded visage of wounds and sores

half inflicted, half depicted
carved upon the door

knock again,
I’ll answer.

And take you to my table.
Feast, starved friend.

In my patience,
which I’ll lend

to hear again
your call.
