Suffering Speaks
By John Creekmore
Suffering speaks in many voices
And presents no single face,
So that we might say, this is the one.
For it is found alike in the halls of
Hunger, and in the gleaming corridors
Of gold,
And is etched in the eyes of morning
As well as the faces of afternoon.
All have known suffering, all have
Borne it or tried to thrust it away.
Few have embraced it and bid it
Speak softly,
But to these it has shown where
The chalice is found.
Great work!
