The Party Ends
By Liz Farrell

After the party ends
the balloons are deflated
the friends have departed
and you’re left wondering again.
The feelings were the same for only a few moments.
You were in a place where sorrow couldn’t touch you,
anger couldn’t affect you,
guilt didn’t haunt you,
and the rain ceased.
Where happiness finally infected you,
laughter seized you,
and the tears were of joy and not of sadness.
The rainbow was again present.
Life seemed simple again …
almost normal.
Then the party ended
the balloons deflated
the friends departed
and in the clean up …
I’m left missing you.

It is so simple yet so profound. How many times do we put our party face with a broken heart. I LOVE this poem.
