It's just poetry, it won't bite

vox poetica New Year publication contest!

10.14.10 Posted in announcements by

I am happy to announce the first ever vox poetica contest! Enter to win publication of your poem for the night of December 31, 2010 or the night of January 1, 2011. Runners-up will have their poetry publish during the first week of January 2011.

Officially this is the vox poetica New Year publication contest, but that doesn’t mean it has to be about New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, or resolutions. If you’re so inclined to write about those things, fantastic! If you’re so inclined to write about the turn of the year in any capacity at all, fantastic! If your poem veers off in directions unrelated to the passage of time or the flipping of the calendar, fantastic! Don’t let the dates confine you.

Submissions will be judged by four fine editors: Lisa Marie Basile of Caper Journal, Bryan Borland of Sibling Rivalry Press, Jessie Carty of Referential Magazine, and Brad Nelson of Eclectic Flash. These wonderful people publish a wide variety of consistently excellent work. Your poetry is in good hands and will be held to high standards.

Contest opens today and work will be accepted for review through Friday, November 5. That means if I don’t have it by midnight November 5, it will not be considered. A few other considerations: original work only please, poetry longer than 50 lines cannot be considered for this contest. Enter as many poems as you like, but no writer will have more than one published poem for this contest. Send entries to annmarie@vox poetica.com and make sure you write CONTEST SUBMISSION in the subject line.

Don’t delay! You only have three weeks! Good luck to all who enter!

–Annmarie Lockhart, editor
