It's just poetry, it won't bite

Whither are you bound

Sue Davis Gabbay’s most recent poem to appear here was “My memories of” (October 2017)

Whither are you bound
Cloud Man in a cloud canoe
As you paddle through the Sky?

         I go in search of
the great Father of Rivers
to beg a favor.

What then do you need?
Your Sky River runs smoothly
Its Dragons friendly.

         I long to sail once
Upon the River of Stars
In the dark Night Sky.

It is I you seek
I, the Father of Rivers.
How have you earned this?

        O generous lord,
My Sky River runs smoothly
Its Dragons friendly.

You shall have your wish
Cloud Man in your cloud canoe,
On one night each year.

        I shall honor you
As I paddle through Night, by
Displacing no stars.
