Words
By Dawnell Harrison
Words drop
From my mouth
Like little red balloons–
Full of promise,
Full and thick
With meaning.
My words
Do not drag
As if slipping
Across my mouth
Like a woman’s
Crimson lipstick
Past midnight.
My words ring out
Into a new day
Like a fresh pear–
Fat, heavy, and
Laden with sweetness.
Beautiful imagery. Thank you for this poem.
A lovely read.
