After all these years, Dorothy still thinks about the Tin Man
By Julia Klatt Singer

She thinks about what it sounds like
inside of him, her hollow man,
when he isn’t sleep-walking, rattling about
the gray-lit house, thinking about how to fix
this, how to make her, his.

And what would it take to fill him?
How many agates, how many
feathers, how many blossoms
how much rain? How many ways
could he sing her name.

Great subject for a poem! This one is easy to picture and you wonder with “Dorothy” about the “Tin Man” – his sounds and how to fill his hollow inside. Love it!
