You and I
By Michael Copeland

If I were you I’d never let me go,
the purity of my heart speaks
loudly of my faith in us.
I will always love you in life,
and in quiet repose, as I pledge
allegiance to your soul.
If I were you I would hold me,
taking my warm hand in yours,
professing your undying love.
We are the story of happiness,
our joy transcends the normal,
rising to euphoric levels.
Our hearts are as one conjoined,
beating the same pentameter
to the love music of life.
