Manny Beltran’s poem The Kiss appeared here in September. This poem explores a universal theme and one that Manny has worked into his visual art as well.
untitled VI
By Manny Beltran
I watch the hours pass
So quickly do they turn to days
A single moment means nothing
As the hands of time progress
Months come and go effortlessly
Without a single point of remembrance
Yet beat vividly while they can
Before melting back to gray
A simple life lost in its tide
It sways and struggles pointlessly
Aching desperately to be more than it can
The pendulum never to return here again
Only the lines on our faces remain
A reminder we have conquered another year
A reminder that the end draws near
And there is nowhere to hide from time

Beautiful, haunting and true. Amazing poem.
Yes, i agree. Love the last two lines.
A great compilation of life ticking away.
