John Grey is an Australian-born poet who has been a US resident since the late 1970s. His work has been recently published in Connecticut Review, Kestrel, and Writer’s Bloc, and he has work forthcoming in Pennsylvania English, Alimentum, and the Great American Poetry Show. So who has enough time? Do you ever want to just laze for a while? Does the fear of leaving something undone press upon you? Daylight Savings Time took away an hour: what did you lose?
At the Age
By John Grey
He was
at the age
when it took
so much effort
to get out of bed.
Why not just
stay under
the blankets
for another
hour or so,
he told himself.
But he was
at the age
when an hour
of doing nothing
was one hour wasted.
So, despite the pain,
he did get out of bed.
His body complained
but his life
thanked him for it.

so don’t want to work out right now but this is giving me motivation 🙂
