untitled

By Kaitlyn Pijanowski

A thin blue line–a plus or minus;
An immeasurable circumstance
Confirmed by casual means.
Denial robbed of certainty
While head and heart contemplate
Over a stick, no less, which holds my fate.
And you–defending humanity–say I am to be
Trusted not with choice, but now with life.
