St Vitus’ Dance
By Steven Minchin

Twitching

five feet in front of me
the shocks from your shoulders

Shake

all of your frame
small and trembling

I want to put you away
back in that part of me
that I once had to

Rip

open and throw
you out of

before this far off
fountain where as you

Tremor

and it starts
to reverberate

through this hole
in me I thank

God

for magic and making it liquid
then suddenly

thrust us over
the edge and fill
our lungs

Healing

another reductive force
another ending
