The Nervous System
By Anthony Ward

The city’s a nervous system
A minutia of intricacies consolidating functions
Overlooked by more celebrated organs
Vigorously driving networks of vessels
Congested by build ups of traffic–
Carcinomatous cells spreading far and wide
Violating our habitat
With industrious smoke suffocating lungs
Ingesting chemicals into our streams
The malaise of mauvaise honte
Making us all environ-mental
Attempting to push back oceans with mops of morality.

One Response to “The Nervous System”

  1. This is a clever way to describe the inner works of a city.
