St Francis, the rain
By Cassie Premo Steele

Francis, the rain tipped the gardenias
in my absence.

they are weighted and brown now
like your robe.

I imagine you will come in moonlight
on a clear night

and gather them into your arms.
Sweet brown stars.

Even Mary would be jealous of this.
This robe of tenderness.

The moths will hover near your body.
You will let them drink.
