Shoemaker
By Babatunde Fagbayibo

Shoemaker,
please make me
an elegantly looking shoe,
one that draws awe tinged admiration
towards me, my steps.

My shoe size? I don’t think
that matters. Rather look at my head,
listen to the silence of
its restless motion:

They say only the head knows
our designated footpaths towards
salvation and damnation.
So of what use is an elegant shoe
that fails to listen to the ways &
means of one’s head?
