Broken Goes the Circle

spent ammo brass littering the wooden night stand,
spilled from the overturned
green plastic hundred-round
  container, coming to rest
against empty glass Ancient
Age bottles,
devoid of their burning, senses-
  altering amber,
weighting down a crisp new fifty,
  a corner-bent twenty, a wrinkled five
    and five grimy ones …
