Death

Mildred Speidel’s most recent poem to appear here was Killed by Kindness. Today’s poem is also about loss, but from a different perspective on a different relationship.

Death
By Mildred Speidel

Death seems everywhere
today

The phone rings, it breaks
the silence of night

The news, though expected
but not today
please, not today

What is your rush?
Why hurry past me
leaving this cold breeze?

I desired more time
more laughs
more dreams
but you were in a rush
