KJ Hannah Greenberg brought us Lake Wyola’s Mile High Farm: Sociology in America back in August. Today’s poem is a bit different, but every bit as chewy.
Deviating Under Starlight: Whispers of Divestment
By KJ Hannah Greenberg
I’m deviating left and right,
In the sun, plus twice at night.
Might as well feign like Clytie:
When running against the starlight.
True, no nymph or maiden fair,
Cares like me about how near
Your breath vibrates or how you swear
To liberate the beloved you “hold dear.”
If only chains, which confine souls,
Could mold our wants, change what we know,
The cosmic dramas might unfold
Regret’s roots when thus we behold.
Until that hour, until that chime, I
Meander oddly this space, this clime,
Roaming intentions, roving design,
I’m diverging from our union, meantime.

A great look into a soul.
