Did I miss a whisper

Did I miss a whisper
a night utterance
some clue
cast into air
from beneath the blanket of night
and nocturne
and sleep?
Did I miss a whisper
a small appendix to a prayer
while eyes still closed,
hands together,
fingers intertwined,
head bowed?
Did I miss a whisper
a hush beneath breath confession
tangled and twisted within a mutter and a mumble?
Did I miss a whisper
exhaled in exhaustion,
in regret, in reflection?
No, I think not.
I neither slept, nor closed my eyes,
nor stopped listening
intently, intensely, acutely.
What you said was enough,
what you omitted unforgettable.

I love the mystery of this.
I too love the mystery and also the haunting feel and the repetition of the question.

I like the clarity and affirmation that reveals itself after the reflection and searching.
I like the ultimate clarity and affirmation that reveals itself from the searching.
