Eating Contest in a Third World Diner
By KC Bosch
That was fast. I bet you couldn’t eat another.
You pay if I do?
If that’s a bet count me in too.
Red poppies and Moorish domes
in the bright midday sun,
like a motion picture
viewed through green glass
and air conditioned cigar smoke.
The big Benz parked next to the empty donkey cart,
fries with gravy, arroz con pollo,
cold Coke in 12-oz bottles, wrapped
sugar cubes on a tray.
Spinning bug on the china is actually
a ceiling fan doing its best.
Big steaks devoured by
overfed child travelers.
KC, you really do have a talent for writing, and specifically for poetry.
