left hand guiding the steering wheel
hand shifting into fifth–;
you widely wound ’round
slithering switchbacks
slinging stinging gravel
window spread fingers,
and hypnotically stared
splattered windshield
burning an almost-midnight
onto her
wondering mind’s canvas
becoming a dying supernova
yet too super hot
to remain wispy smoke,
smoldering ashes.
