It’s Crazy
By Frank Cavano

The northeast states are flooded but
the southwest states have drought.
The Carolinas are so humid that
the old folks won’t go out.
The tropics are so threatening
they could really cause a mess
but the weathermen are happy.
When it’s nice they get depressed.

Politicians are so clever
they seduce us for our vote.
They promise us the moon and stars
but on themselves they dote.
They promise they will quell our
fears, bring safety to our land-
then do exactly as they please
‘til all our hopes are canned.

It’s crazy, it’s crazy—
that lovely world they
sold us as a child—
It’s crazy, it’s crazy—
that world is somewhere
else ‘cause this one’s wild.

Now Johnny says he loves her
but she won’t give him the time.
She says she wants to be his friend;
he thinks her legs are fine.
One day he tried to push it
but she removed his hand;
Johnny drank so many beers on
his legs he could not stand.

The religions are so many
that each man has ample choice
but wouldn’t it be nicer if
they had a single voice?
They call each other “infidel”;
the different they abhor.
Have you noticed that religion
is the face of most the wars?

It’s crazy, it’s crazy—
that lovely world they
sold us as a child—
It’s crazy, it’s crazy—
that world is somewhere
else ‘cause this one’s wild!
